Know about SSC and how it works?
Staff Selection Commission(SSC) is an organization that works under the Government of India, for the recruitment of staff for various posts in the ministries, many other departments of the Govt Of India and its subsidiary offices.
The Staff Selection Commission is an attached office of the Department of Personal and Training.
The chairman, two members and a secretary/controller of examinations were appointed according to the prescribed term and condition by the Central Government. They are further supported by Staff of the Headquarter and also by a Regional Network of offices established at various locations.
The Headquarter of the Commission is located in New Delhi. The commission has been provided with a Regional set-up, which helps for the smooth conduct of examinations through a large network of examination centers/sub-centers situated in different parts of the country for the convenience of the Aspirants.
At present, there are seven Regional Offices and two Sub-Regional Offices at Allahabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati, Chennai, Bangalore, Raipur, and Chandigarh.
Each Regional Office is headed by a Regional Director and Each Sub-Regional office is headed by a Deputy Director. All the details of the functions and operative jurisdictions of these Regional and Sub-Regional Offices are given in Appendix-IV,.
SSC currently functions as a subordinate office of DOPT. Which mainly engaged in conducting competitive exams for recruitment to various posts in the SSC departments, organizations. In previous years, SSC has conducted various exams.
