Why CAT?

 

CAT_common Admission Test is a computer-based exam for admission of MBA(Master Of Business Administration) in IIMs-Indian Institutes of Management and Other Prestigious B-Schools in the Country.

 

When CAT started and who conducts It?

 

CAT(Common Admission Test) started in the year 1950. Before 2009 CAT was a paper-based test conducted in a single day for all the candidates. From 1 May 2009, it was announced that CAT will be a Computer-based test.

 

For the first time in 2009 CAT was conducted as an online exam, it was conducted by a US-based company called Prometric. from 2009 to 2013 CAT Exam was conducted by Prometric. In 2014 it was conducted by Tata Consultancy Service(TCS). This exam was held by IIMS(Indian institutes of Management) every year on the basis of the policy of rotation.

 

Eligibility:

 
  • Any person who holds a Bachelor’s degree, with at least 50% marks or Equivalent CGPA(Cumulative Grade Point Average). Candidates who belong to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disability (PWD)/Differently Able (DA) classifications for them not less than 45%.
  • Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor’S degree or Equivalent Qualification Examination and those who have completed the degree and aWaiting for results can also Apply for CAT Exam. However, it may be noted that such candidates, if selected, will be allowed to join the program provisionally, only if they submit a certificate from the Institution, that they completed their bachelor’s of degree.
  • The degree should be granted by any of the universities consolidated by an act of the central or state statutory body in India or other instructive organizations built up by an act of Parliament or pronounced to be considered as a university under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
 
 

Formate of CAT Exam:

 

There is a total of 100 Question test. which are from a different section like

  • The Exam is For 300 Marks.
  • 3 marks for every correct answer & -1 mark for an incorrect answer.
